Conference Minister Appointed
Doug Kaufman ('85) was appointed conference minister for leadership transitions (CMLT) for Indiana-Michigan Mennonite Conference, for a term beginning Feb. 15, 2010, and continuing through June 30, 2013. Doug was invited to accept this call following affirmation by almost 99 percent of delegates who responded via ballot in January.
Doug has been serving in the interim CMLT position since August, working out of the conference office.
“Doug’s work in the interim role has been excellent and we are glad to have him now take the long-term position” said Dan Miller, lead conference minister and chair of the Search Team. “He will care well for these important discernment processes.”
“I look forward to working with congregations on thoughtful and prayerful decisions about their pastoral leadership, a decision that has a huge impact on congregational life,” Doug said. For nine years, Doug has served half-time as co-pastor with Brenda Hostetler Meyer at Benton Mennonite, a rural congregation southeast of Goshen. He plans to continue in this role. Doug also has served a suburban congregation in Pennsylvania and an urban one in California.
The Search Team consists of Dan Miller, lead conference minister and chair; Gary Martin, Missional Leadership Team representative; and Ruben Chupp, Church Life Commission representative. The CMLT position is officially appointed by the lead conference minister.
